For treatment of colds, hay fever, and other respiratory allergies: Adults and children 12 years of age and older—2.5 milliliters (mL) every four to six hours as needed; children 6 to 11 years of age—1 mL every four to six hours as needed; infants and children up to 5 years of age—Use and dose must be determined by your doctor

Be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to Tussi-Organidin NR, any other medications, or any of the ingredients in Tussi-Organidin NR tablets, capsules, or liquid. Ask your pharmacist for a list of the ingredients.

Do not take Tussi-Organidin NR if you have used an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) within the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur, leading to serious side effects

Do not take Tussi-Organidin NR if you have used a sympathomimetic within the past 14 days such as pseudoephedrine (Sudafed), ephedrine, phenylephrine (Neo-Synephrine), or desoxyephedrine (Nyquil Cold and Flu). A dangerous drug interaction could occur, leading to serious side effects

You should not take Tussi-Organidin NR if you are taking beta-blockers such as atenolol (Tenormin), labetalol (Normodyne), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), nadolol (Corgard), propranolol (Inderal, InnoPran), sotalol (Betapace), or timolol (Blocadren). A dangerous drug interaction could occur, leading to serious side effects

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration, Tussi-Organidin NR is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Peak plasma concentrations are achieved within 30 to 60 minutes. The mean elimination half-life is 3.8 hours. Tussi-Organidin NR is metabolized in the liver and excreted in the urine as inactive metabolites
