Triavil

Triavil is a medication that is used to treat mental illness and depression. It is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) and works by affecting the chemicals in the brain that are involved in mood. Triavil is available as an oral tablet, an oral solution, and an injectable form. The oral tablet is taken two or three times daily, while the oral solution is taken once daily. Pharmacokinetics :

Drug Interactions :

-Tricyclic antidepressants: Taking Triavil with other tricyclic antidepressants may increase the level of Triavil in your blood, leading to more side effects.

-Serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs): Taking Triavil with SSRIs may cause a condition called serotonin syndrome, which can be life-threatening. Symptoms of serotonin syndrome include agitation, hallucinations, coma, and rapid heart rate.

-Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs): Taking Triavil with MAOIs can cause a dangerous increase in blood pressure. Symptoms of this interaction include headache, confusion, blurred vision, and chest pain.

-Cyclobenzaprine: Taking Triavil with cyclobenzaprine can increase the level of Triavil in your blood, leading to more side effects.

-Diazepam: Taking Triavil with diazepam can increase the level of diazepam in your blood, leading to more side effects.

-St. John’s wort: Taking Triavil with St. John’s wort may decrease the level of Triavil in your blood, making it less effective.

Warnings :

Dosage and administration :

-The usual starting dose of Triavil is 25 mg two or three times daily. Your doctor may increase your dose slowly over time to reach the best dose for you.

-The usual dose of Triavil oral solution is 10 mg once daily.

-The usual dose of Triavil injectable is 37.5 mg every two weeks.

Triavil may be taken with or without food. If you take Triavil with food, it may take longer for the medication to start working.

If you miss a dose of Triavil, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue on your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses of Triavil at the same time.

Storage :

Store Triavil at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom. Keep Triavil out of the reach of children and pets.
